Who we work with New

We work with government, services, community groups, universities and workplaces

Many of our team work on the ground every week, in clinics, peer services, research and community groups. We bring what we see there to your project. We also connect you with the right community groups, rather than speaking over them.

Fees from this work help fund our free community work, like Dumplings Against Depression and the Solis network.

Services

New Here is what each service means, with examples. If you are not sure which one fits, tell us what you are working on and we will help you work it out.

Provide lived expertise and advice

We bring people with lived experience, clinical, research and community knowledge into your work. That way the people your policy or service is for can help shape it from the start.

You might need this if…

  • You are writing a policy, strategy or funding round, and you want to check it will work for multicultural communities
  • You need people from diverse backgrounds for an advisory group, a panel or a co-design workshop
  • You want someone to look at your service, forms or website and show you where people might feel unwelcome or get stuck
  • You are writing a submission to an inquiry and want community voices in it
  • Your service is not reaching some communities and you want to know why

Example from our work

At Dumplings Against Depression 2025 we hosted a roundtable with the Victorian Collaborative Centre for Mental Health and Wellbeing. Community members spoke directly with the people who plan services.

Promote training & professional development

Training for your staff, volunteers or community, from people who share and understand multicultural and intersectional experiences.

You might need this if…

  • Your team wants to feel more confident when someone from a different culture is struggling (Mental Health First Aid)
  • Your peer or lived experience workers need supervision from someone who understands culture and identity (Consumer Perspective Supervision)
  • You want a workshop about labels like “CALD”, cultural humility, power and privilege, or intersectionality
  • Your bicultural or multicultural staff want a safe place to reflect and learn with peers
  • You want a professional development session for your team day

Example from our work

At TheMHS 2026 we ran a Bicultural Work & Lived Experience Workshop with our friends in cohealth’s Bicultural Work Program & Network.

Resource and project development

We help you plan and build resources and projects with community, from the first idea to the finished product.

You might need this if…

  • You want a fact sheet, guide or web page in plain English, checked by the community it is for
  • You are planning a community event and want it to feel welcoming and safe
  • You need a directory, a toolkit or a summary of the research on multicultural mental health
  • You want to hold a community forum and turn what people say into a report
  • You have funding for a project and need community partners who can deliver

Example from our work

We built the Solis Toolkit, HeartChat and the Research Register. We also ran the 2023 community language forum ‘Cultural Diversity – Read the Label!’ and wrote the report.

Guest speaking or presentations

Speakers for conferences, panels, staff days, webinars and community events. We can speak in plain language for community audiences, or in depth for professionals.

You might need this if…

  • You are running a conference or staff day and want a speaker on multicultural mental health
  • You need a panel member with lived expertise
  • You want a talk for your community about mental health, stigma and getting support
  • You want a lunchtime talk for a cultural or awareness day at work

Example from our work

We have presented at the AMHC & FECCA National Multicultural Health and Wellbeing Conference in 2023 and 2025, and at TheMHS 2026. Topics our team speak on include multicultural mental health, lived experience and peer work, intersectionality, culture and labels, ageing and dementia, and LGBTIQA+ inclusion.

Why work with aidMH New

Language and considerations to policy

Find hidden gaps and holes in governance, policy and systems that could impact engagement and the safety of diverse individuals in a workplace, organisation or community. We help identify and address opportunities for internal and systems change.

Voices from the community – rooted in our roots

Hear directly from community – as we are co-founded and led by intersectional practitioners and advocates, one of the benefits of collaborating with aidMH is that our lived experience (and lived expertise for some) gives us a nuanced lens.

Connected to all levels – on all levels

Whether it’s local, state or federal government, corporate or community organisations, aidMH can help strategise and engage with decision-makers on all levels to build sustainability and progress in the development of diverse mental health.

For and by the community

aidMH brings together and supports researchers in the field of multicultural mental health. The data and research we provide access to is hot off the press – straight to you or your organisation when you need it most, in collaboration with best practice researchers.

Consumer Perspective Supervision (CPS) and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) for diverse communities

aidMH can provide a team of experienced Mental Health First Aid instructors and Consumer Perspective Supervisors who bring with them cultural expertise and community connections.

New Mental Health First Aid is an accredited course. It teaches people how to notice when someone may be struggling, how to start a caring conversation, and how to help them find support.

New Consumer Perspective Supervision is supervision for lived experience and peer workers, from supervisors who also bring a consumer perspective. Read more about Consumer Perspective Supervision and Mental Health First Aid Australia.

Please confirm which MHFA courses our instructors can teach, and the wording MHFA Australia allows for cultural tailoring.
